LRC Extended Services

Library services for OWC students extend far beyond the bounds of the Niceville campus.  Through reciprocal lending agreements, OWC students have complete access to the library resources of the University of West Florida, Pensacola Junior College, and other Florida community colleges and universities.  This allows OWC students to have the same borrowing privileges as the students enrolled at those institutions.

In the local area, currently enrolled OWC students have additional access to library services at the following locations.
Please contact these libraries for details:

  • The Okaloosa-Walton College and the University of West Florida Fort Walton Beach Campus.
  • The Robert L. F. Sikes Public Library in Crestview
  • The Walton-Defuniak Public Library in DeFuniak Springs
  • The base libraries at Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field (If enrolled in a course meeting on-base, students are extended borrowing privileges at the respective base library.)

OWC library services such as intra-campus loans of books, requests for photocopies, and the return and renewal of LRC materials are permitted at Fort Walton Beach Campus Library, Walton-DeFuniak Public Library, and the OWC offices at Crestview, Eglin and Hurlburt.  Items may also be renewed by calling 729-5318.

OWC students may submit an interlibrary loan request to obtain a book or photocopy of an article from a periodical not owned by the OWC LRC.   Contact the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator for more information.
The Ask-a-Librarian service has added a new dimension of what it can do for you as of September 2003.  When you really need to ask a librarian, but you are not at the library, you can chat live by going to http://www.askalibrarian.org or you have the option of asking your question by email.  Either way you have a way to get your questions answered.
