The Interlibrary Loan service (ILL) provides materials to eligible OWC patrons by borrowing
books or requesting photocopies of articles from other libraries. The ILL service may also be used by OWC patrons to request that materials from the Niceville campus LRC be sent to them at other locations. The average time from request to arrival is 7 to 10 days. Many items arrive more quickly. Sometimes an item cannot be borrowed. If you must have the item in less than a week, it's better to look for other material in the OWC LRC collection or in the LRC's subscription databases. OWC does not borrow audio-visual items, such as videocassettes, since we choose not to lend those categories to other libraries. Students may have three "active" requests at one time. Faculty and staff may submit a larger number of requests. A request is "active" until the photocopy arrives or until a book is returned. Interlibrary loan requests can be made in person or submitted online. The ILL staff will call or email you when your material is ready. For more information about the interlibrary loan service read the online "Frequently Asked Questions" document at http://lrc.owc.edu/pages/illfaqs.html or contact the Interlibrary Loan Department by calling 729-5317. |
